Overview

Allspring Engineering and Technology is seeking an Application Engineer / Full-Stack Engineer with strong backend and data engineering orientation to help design, build, and scale high-performance applications and platforms.

 

This role is ideal for an engineer who excels in backend systems, data modeling, APIs, and distributed application architecture while also contributing to modern frontend development using React and TypeScript. The individual will play a key role in building scalable, cloud-native platforms and supporting complex, data-intensive workflows.

 

The individual will contribute to system architecture decisions with emphasis on scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance. The role requires close collaboration with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to deliver modern solutions aligned with Allspring’s strategic technology goals.

 

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance modern frontend applications using React and TypeScript
  • Design, build, and optimize backend services, APIs, and distributed systems using Python
  • Design and optimize data models, database queries, and overall database performance
  • Contribute to scalable system architecture and cloud-native platform development
  • Develop and support data-intensive application workflows and data pipelines
  • Implement software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and observability
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, product owners, and business stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot production issues and drive operational improvements across the platform
  • Support and improve DevOps and automation practices across deployment and delivery processes
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong collaborative engineering culture

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of software development experience
  • Strong expertise in TypeScript / React frontend development
  • Strong expertise in Python backend development and APIs
  • Strong expertise in SQL, database design, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Proven experience building backend APIs and distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and backend architecture patterns
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time
  • Operate computer programs and software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats
  • Day-to-day contact with others (co-workers and/or public)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative business environment in close quarters with peers and varying interruptions

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS CLI, AWS SDK, EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda
  • Experience with FastAPI
  • Familiarity with Pip, uv, or Conda environments
  • Unix / shell scripting experience
  • Docker and containerization experience
  • GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD tools
  • js, Angular, Java / Maven exposure
  • Experience with financial or trading platforms

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000

 

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
